Smoltzie? What the...

I'm trying hard to be civil, gang. Jennifer sent over this link, and...well...he's really pissing me off with this talk!

“I say this for the first time, without reservation, if I’m going to bust my butt and if I feel like I’m good enough and it doesn’t work out here, I will be pitching somewhere else … My dream scenario would be to pitch in the playoffs again, and that’s coming from a guy who’s been in 13 of them. (Smoltz missed the 2000 playoffs with Tommy John surgery.) To me, that’s what I’m about. So if the door gets closed here, it’ll have to be explored somewhere else.”
Cocky, isn't he? He wasn't dominating this year before his injuries. He's over 40. He's been to 13 post-seasons already. I'm sorry, I don't usually rail on the Braves here, but dude, don't get greedy. If the Braves don't think he can be effective, what makes him think another club will think he's the Mr. October of 10 years ago?

If they don't tender a contract, retire with some grace, man.

On a nicer note, happy birthday Mom! :)

if he can pitch I cannot possibly imagine a scenario where the Braves don't offer him a contract...

What brought this on, Smoltzie? I'm with CA, I can't imagine the Braves won't offer him a contract if he can pitch. With Huddy, Glav and Hammy as question marks, the Braves will need some veteran pitching from somebody with all the young guys I'm sure they'll have, and he'd be the guy I'd pick.

Strange.

Someone over on DOB's blog made a good point- I think all smoltzie is saying is that he is doing everything in his power to pitch but the braves may not want him back- and if that is the case he doesn't want all the effort to go for nothing...He did say that he wants to retire as a brave and if they want him back he will be there

What she said. :)

I give him credit for admitting that they may not have a place for him next year, as well.

A teeny, tiny, selfish part of me would love to see that cute bubble butt in Cubbie pinstripes, but I really can't imagine him as anything but a Brave, and I think Homeboy will make it happen.

Pinstripes and bubble butts don't go well together:)

I think Rich Harden looks scrumptious in Cubbie pants. ;)

Oh, come on now. If you're gonna talk about Richie's butt, at least give us the money shot. ;)

Just search for "harden" at the top of the blog. It's good stuff. :)
