Heyward for 2010?

From Braves.com:

The Braves may also spend the next couple weeks and months searching for an outfielder. But because it seems likely they will be willing to give Jason Heyward a chance to begin the 2010 season in their outfield, this doesn't seem to be as great of a concern.

Matt Diaz and Nate McLouth are in place to fill the other outfield spots. To provide some insurance in the event that Heyward isn't able to make the successful jump to the Majors, Atlanta may at least attempt to find an affordable veteran outfielder.
"...it seems likely..." doesn't mean this is absolutely happening, but I'm glad it's a consideration. I was very impressed by Heyward a couple of months ago when we got to see him in Gwinnett, and I hope he has as much success as BMac (as opposed to some of the other recent farm hands). ;)

Turner Field Tour 2009

Some friends and I took the free tour yesterday, I got to meet some more blog readers (hi!), and frankly, I didn't take very many pictures. I was having battery issues, and the tour is the same every year. (We even had the same tour guide!) Here's the best:

Also in the TV broadcast booth - I submitted this photo to passiveaggressivenotes.com :D

I do hope New Javy is back for 2010, and maybe beyond. He was a great addition to the 2009 team.

The Inaugural Brian McCann Rally Celebrity Softball Game

The softball game Friday night at Georgia Tech was very fun! Here are some pictures, links, etc. if you missed all the good times. :)

My photo album, full of horrible shaky pictures

My Fox Atlanta video interview with BMac

An amazing Flickr album of the evening (thanks for the tip, Lizziebeth!)

A few comments...

- A couple Braves family members participated - Baby's wife Ashley, Baby's mom (who reminded me a little of my mom, in her ponytail!), and Chipper's wife Sharon. I spotted Ron Gant's wife Heather, but she didn't play.

- Everyone seemed to be having the most fun EVER.

- If you missed the tweet, Huddy tried to pants Baby during the game. That was awesome.

- Huddy hit three home runs in the pre-game home run derby. Andruw ended up winning the derby in a hit-off with minor leaguer Cody Johnson.

- Cody is a BEAST. I love him.

McCann wins his third Silver Slugger!

Article from MLB.com

To quote an anonymous blog reader through Meebo, "Congratulations to Mr. Brian McCann: 3 times Silver Slugger Award Winner, and 2 years in a row! :-)"

Three more years of Huddy! Maybe four!

If you haven't heard by now, the Braves have signed Tim Hudson to a 3-year extension with a 4th year option. I don't think I've been this happy since Baby signed his long-term deal! It's so exciting to have one of our favorite Braves back for a few more years!!

"Poke Him!"

Wish I could poke Boog! Anyone know if he'll open a Boog ESPN profile on Facebook? I'd be a fan of that. :)

Thoughts on the World Series

1. My dad is very happy the Yankees won. He's a Mantle fan from back in the day, and he likes Derek Jeter more than any player in MLB today.

2. Cliff Lee and Chase Utley are awesome.

3. I didn't expect Ryan Howard to strike out 13 times. I didn't think he'd do well against Yankee pitching, but I didn't expect him to perform so poorly either.

4. I didn't expect to see A-Rod crying on the field after the win. What an emotional 2009 he's had.

5. I'm very glad the Phillies didn't win out this year. Two straight years of WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS would have been difficult to swallow. (TWSS.)

6. Glad for Joe Girardi -- I always liked him. (Can't believe he got pie-d!)

7. Glad for Andy Pettitte and his record-setting.

8. A replay of Boog interviewing A-Rod on the field was on Sports Center this morning. Boog asked some insightful questions, and A-Rod kinda blew him off. Poor Boog.

9. I wasn't really cheering for either team; I was just hoping for a good competition. I feel like we got one, and I'm looking forward to Valentine's Day now!

10. A friend of mine works for the Yankees part-time -- I'll see if I can "interview" her about her experiences this post-season. :)
