Red Sox' Adam LaRoche Traded to Braves for Casey Kotchman

WELCOME BACK, ROCHEY!!! Man, this might be the only re-acquisition I've been excited over!! I know, a lot of people don't love LaRoche and think his "laziness" is what got him traded. Well, I have adult ADD, and I know that sometimes you just zone out, can't control it, and don't realize you've done it until you snap back to reality. I am happy he talks about it publicly and clears up misconceptions, and I'm glad we have a first baseman I like again!

Yay, LaRoche!!

Not a fan of the trade. I like Adam quite a bit but I think Casey is a better overall player

Oh well, I am glad to see Adam back :)

I'm sorry, but I think this was a bad deal. I know people aren't fans of Casey because of his low HR numbers and his lack of speed, but you can't replace his stellar defense. He can hit a bit, too.

i gotta agree with Jen. I think Casey is a better player all around. With no errors at first base, he is a great defense player.

Casey is much better. I think this was an awful deal. I don't dislike Adam, but if we really want to win, then why deal away a guy with NO ERRORS at first??

I don't like it either. Casey was just getting hot and his defense was definitely better than what I remember with LaRoche

Well I'm going to chime in here and say I agree with you Lauren. I have nothing against Casey but I am happy to have Rochey back. I have dealt with ADD for most of my life so that always endeared me to him because I totally understand what he goes through. Casey is great defensively and did seem like he was starting to hit well, but I just can't really be mad with this trade.

I still don't know how I feel about this trade. LaRoche was on of my original favorites, but I'm not sure if Casey was worth it.

I understand the Braves' POV on this... we needed someone with pop in his bat, and I fully believe LaRoche will produce and score more runs than Casey's defense could have saved.

This afternoon, I heard the radio announcers say that Casey was offensively dead last out of the NL's first basemen. That's unacceptable for a team that's genuinely trying to make a run at the playoffs.
