Baseball broadcaster Chip Caray and Turner Sports parted ways on Monday, a move that was termed a mutual decision but seemed in every sense a firing.
Caray had three years left on his contract with Turner, where he was the primary announcer on TBS' Sunday games and postseason games as well as Braves games on Peachtree TV.
The decision was influenced by harsh reviews for Caray, 44, from media critics and many fans following his mistake-plagued work in this year's postseason coverage, a Turner official confirmed.
One word: FINALLY.

I have to admit I was shocked. Not sad, but shocked they actually did it!
Christmas is a little early this year.
Don't celebrate yet, my friends. Bowman seems to think this paves the way for Chip to possibly be the everyday guy on Sportsouth/FSN. Yuck!
We lose boog and get chip caray?? how could we have offended the baseball gods this much!
Just because Bowman states a speculation doesn't mean it's fact. We'll see what happens...
I liked Chip actually. I'm curious as to why everyone seems to hate him so vigorously?
He makes wrong calls on a regular basis. The one that is freshest in everyone's memory is captured here: http://thefastertimes.com/mlb/2009/10/07/video-chip-carays-line-drive-base-hit-call/
