Turkey Drop 4

I love hearing about the Braves giving back to the community. Every year, the team does a "Turkey Drop", where they deliver Thanksgiving dinner to less-fortunate families. This year, the Brave elected to go on the run was Chucky James! With his cute wife Julie!

ATLANTA -- Growing up a Braves fan, pitcher Chuck James dreamed of following in the footsteps of such veterans as John Smoltz and Tim Hudson.

On Thursday afternoon that meant representing the Braves in the team's effort to help the community.

The native of nearby Mableton was joined by his wife, Julie; Braves mascot Homer; and members of the Georgia Avenue Food Co-op in the fourth annual Turkey Drop, through which baskets of food are hand-delivered to disadvantaged families in neighborhoods around Turner Field, just in time for Thanksgiving.

"It's a good feeling," said James, who's had an eventful November. He turned 26 on Nov. 9 and celebrated his first wedding anniversary two days later. "Everybody deserves a turkey on Thanksgiving, and it's an awesome feeling to come and see the smiling faces when we come to help them out."
