Wow, NOT smart!

From the braves.com mailbag...

Reyes has the physical tools to be successful at the Major League level. Tom Glavine and John Smoltz liked him enough that they monitored many of his bullpen sessions until he decided that the Hall of Fame knowledge they were providing was handicapping his mental process during games.

Late in the season, Reyes revealed that around the All-Star break, he told Glavine and Smoltz that he didn't want their assistance anymore. That was only slightly less disturbing than the fact that he admitted he came to his first Major League Spring Training this year unprepared to consistently locate his pitches.

Holy crap. See, Jo-Jo, this right here? Turning down the advice of TWO of the Big Three? Not a good decision.

I think the worse decision was telling the media about the whole thing. Eeeesh.

Until we hear another side to the story, one that maybe makes some sense, is it bad that I'm kinda not cheering for Jo-Jo?

Wow- forgive me if this sounds harsh but how stupid can you be Jo-Jo? You have two future hall of fame vets doing everything they can to help you, including staying well after they could have left for the golf course during spring training, and you tell them you don't need them anymore- that they are hurting your development? Let me know how that's worked out for you and your 3-11 record

I saw that too and was like, "Well, someone got a little big for his britches with those two good starts in a row." Now we know why he sucked and lost his last seven starts of the season. Good luck finding a job somewhere (probably not on the Braves roster), Jo-Jo, you'll definitely need it now.

Even Ron Gant speculated that he thought Jo-Jo might be packaged in a deal on Braves Live. Maybe that's why Ron was kind of in dislike with Jo-Jo? He seemed to have gotten tired of seeing him like everyone else had. Or at least that's the vibe I got from him and others as well with the organization not named Bobby or Roger McDowell.

I think even Bobby and Roger got tired of him by the end of teh season...

Yeah, I think their patience was wearing thin with him, too, after so much inconsistency and not going but two-three innings per start.

I didn't like JoJo (AS A PITCHER) all season. I nicknamed him OhNo Reyes on DOB's blog. Hee. My brother and I were so mad when we found out some tickets we had this past season were for when he would be starting. Anyway. I was hoping he wouldn't be back next year even before I read that. How disrespectful can you get?!

I'm just still all asquee that you mentioned The Big Three. <3

I think Bobby was pretty done with Jo-Jo toward the end of the year. This smacks Jason Marquis, and you know I'm still trying to give him back to you guys. :p
