Meet BMac in Rome, GA!

7th Annual Hot Stove Featuring Brian McCann Next Week

On Monday January 26 the Rome Braves will host the 7th Annual Hot Stove Gathering at the Forum in Downtown Rome. The event will begin at 5pm with a silent auction, autograph sessions, and heavy hor d’oeuvres. The program featuring former Rome Brave and current Atlanta Brave Brian McCann, along with the 2009 Rome Braves field staff and Atlanta Braves personnel, will begin at 7pm.

McCann has been named a member of the National League All-Star team for three consecutive years and has captured the Silver Slugger Award for the past two seasons. In the 2005 Division Series, McCann became the first player in Braves franchise history to hit a homerun in his first postseason at bat when he hit a three-run shot off Roger Clemens. He also holds the distinction of hitting the first postseason homerun for the Rome Braves in 2003 as Rome went on to win the South Atlantic League Championship. That season McCann was named Rome ’s Player of the Year, and he was named to the midseason and postseason All-Star squads.

The proceeds from this year’s event will once again benefit the Cancer Navigators of Rome in memory of Jim “Beach” Beauchamp. The purpose of Cancer Navigators is to bring the community together to take care of all who are touched by the life-changing process of dealing with cancer. This includes patients, families, caregivers, and friends as well as doctors, nurses, and support staff. Cancer Navigators have Nurse, Service, and Education programs to assist anyone who seeks knowledge about cancer or needs to reclaim his or her life before, during, and after treatments.

Tickets for this event are available at the ticket department at State Mutual Stadium, the Forum in Downtown Rome, and online at www.romebraves.com. Tickets are $30 per person and are limited.
