I'm happy:) Imagining Chipper in a different uniform is almost as hard as imagining Smoltzie in one (ok, bad example)...and with the next wave of young guys about ready to come up (seriously, how young is this team? Gotta love that!) Chipper will be a great veteran influence for them. Whoo Hoo!
I'm glad this went through. I wholeheartedly agree with CA about not being able to see Chipper in another uniform and I am happy that we won't have to worry about that now.
I agree, ladies. Even though the Braves don't officially designate a captain, Chipper is the captain. And he has been very loyal to the Braves. I'm glad to see them reciprocate that loyalty.
I think it's funny that people perceive Chipper as a leader, or as a Captain, even though he's said over and over that he doesn't consider himself a leader and calls himself an "elder statesman". Just because you've been around forever doesn't mean you're a leader. (Same goes for work -- the oldest guy isn't always the biggest boss.)
I think by "leader" most people (or at least me) mean "influential"...several of the young guys (including Mac & Francoeur) have talked about how Chipper has helped them become better hitters...he's just not a vocal, rah-rah kind of guy:)

I wouldn't want to see Chipper in any other uniform. I'm glad he has the chance to finish his career here.

I wonder if Smoltzie is a tad bit jealous...
I'm happy! After the Smoltzy thing I was afraid it might happen again with Chipper.
