Ross (grand) slams Mets as Braves win fourth straight

From USA Today:
Braves catcher David Ross kept scratching his head, trying to recall if he'd ever hit a grand slam in his life. "Some of the guys were asking me about that," Ross told reporters. "I can't remember one in college, the minors. Ever.'' That streak ended when he hit his first career grand slam in the big leagues in the Braves' 9-2 rout over the Mets.

Braves’ quotes after Tuesday win over Mets
DAVID ROSS

On his big night

“I’d rather jog around the bases than have to run hard to third, especially when Francoeur is picking the ball up.

“It was just nice to contribute when B-Mac gets a day off, give him some rest. He’s been playing really well lately. I’ve got to do good or else I’m not going to get back in there, the way he’s been playing.”

“It’s nice to give him some rest down the stretch and just get him ready for this last month run.”

On first career grand slam (with bases loaded, he was 5-for-30 in career and 1-for-4 with four walks this season, before tonight)

"Yeah, it’s nice to get a hit [with bases loaded]. It was nice to finally come through."

...

"It was just a good team win. Guys are having good at-bats. Jason Heyward is swinging the bat really well right now for us, and that’s a key. D-Lee had some nice hits tonight, Prado getting guys over, Melky in front of me, I know he got two, maybe three. Just turning the lineup over is key when you’ve got guys at the top of the order hitting over .300 with Omar and Prado, and Jason’s really hot right now. And then when B-Mac and D-Lee are in there, starting to get a little deeper lineup, and we’ve got a lot of weapons that Bobby can use on the bench."
