Mitch Evans: Prospect to watch

I don't discuss the minors much on this blog, and don't think I've ever discussed a player we pulled from the MLB Draft. This guy, Mitch Evans, was the 24th round draft pick by the Braves last year and is currently finishing up his commitment to the Navy. He's a starting pitcher and looks quite sharp in his Navy dress whites. Thank you, Braves! ;)

So, I'm admittedly not at all familiar with the draft or its rules, but it looks like Atlanta drafted him but couldn't strike a deal, so he's back in the draft pool. So, the Braves won't get him after he finishes his commitment with the Navy? Confusing.

That's what it sounds like, Jessica. Rather, the Braves won't have access to him until he finishes his Naval commitment, and neither will any other team. Let's keep our eyes peeled...
