Chipper out with slight quad tear

Jones suffered the strain after hitting a ground ball to third base in the seventh inning of Saturday night's game against the Phillies at Turner Field. Just a few steps out of the batter's box, he felt discomfort. After running through first base, the Braves third baseman bent over in apparent pain and then chose to stay in the game.

When the game concluded, Braves physician Dr. Marvin Royster told Jones that he had a slight tear in the quadriceps muscle. At the same time, he told the veteran third baseman that he would likely have to miss at least the first two games of this week's series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Full article. Get well, Chipper. The team needs you.

In lighter news, I went to a conference this weekend, and on the way there Friday night, we kept seeing small metal road signs congratulating Parkview High School sports for their multiple championships over the years. I thought that was nice, but didn't really think anything of it...until we drove past the school.

Me: "Parkview!"
My friends: [laughing]
My roommate: "Who went there, Baby?"
Me: "NO, Frenchy. ...And Clint Sammons!"
My roommate: "I'm not stopping."
Me: "Um, no. That would be weird."

Did that keep me from taking a picture the next day (when I was driving back to the conference)? It did not.

I am a dork, y'all.

And for fun, here are some of the more interesting Google searches that brought people to Braves Love this past week:

1. brain mccann matt diaz kind of guy he is
2. has brian mccann gotten fat?
3. where does john smoltz live now that he's divorced?
4. who to be relax when love braves

Awesome (well, not about Chipper, but about Parkview). Glad to know there are other dorks out there! It still makes me happy that the Braves are focusing on local guys b/c they have great programs right there in the area.

I wish I could remember the Google search that first brought me here to this blog. Once I read it I was hooked. Living in Philly, I need "Braves Love" in my life.

Keep up the good work.

Don't feel bad. I was listening to the radio and a girl called in to request a song. She was sitting in the car waiting for her sister to get through with SAT's. The radio man asked her what school she was at and she said Parkview and of course I started screaming. I love frenchy, and im proud of it. Thats not a bad thing, is it?

Morgan, not a bad thing at all. :)

Thanks everyone, for the assurance. My friends were laughing at me, but we didn't sneak into the school or anything -- just stopped in the parking lot to take pics of the sign. Heh. And I didn't take goofy high-school-senior portrait photos in front of the sign like ONE person did. :D

You should've driven around back to see "the shrine", LOL...I took a Continuing Ed class at Parkview a couple of years ago and had to park in the back. His name is all over the place in the stadium, from what I can remember (getting old). But justifiably so, he was a star athlete there.
Hmmm, I can't remember how I landed here. Probably a search having to do with pictures. But I'm very, very glad I landed!
