Mike Hampton is returning to the Houston Astros, thanks to free agency. I'm ok with that -- he never performed to his potential here, and I wish him the best.

I think it has to do with his family situation, rather than any reflection on the Braves. Best of luck to him.
I didn't mean for this to reflect poorly on the Braves. Sometimes you can work with a great organization (in everyone else's eyes) and it's just not the best fit for you. I don't think anyone could argue that Hammy performed as well as a Brave as he did when with the Astros or Rockies.
From what i've heard he is going through a fairly nasty divorce and wants to be closer to his kids-I've always kinda liked him and am sorry to see him go (just wish he could have stayed a little healthier...) but it is nice to see an athlete put family over money...good luck to him:)
