Teix in pinstripes

The news is everywhere -- Teix and the Yankees seem to have come to an agreement. 8 years. $180 million. A no-trade clause.

1. Pinstripes are slimming.

2. He's officially sold his soul.

3. I'm off the Teix love train.

Thanks for tipping the story this afternoon, Amy in VA!

As much as it pains me I am not going to fault Teix...he is one of the few athletes that treats his sport like a business and responds accordingly...he does not pretend to have any loyalties to anyone but himself and his family...as a die hard fan I hate it more then I can admit but at least he is not a "i love this team, I want to be with this team, but wait that team offered me more money" (ahem rafael furcal...)- that being said I just waved as the I love Teix train flew by...

CA - Apparently the Braves offered Tex a contract before spring training this year and he turned it down then went on to say how he wanted to play his whole career in Atlanta after he got traded. Once I heard he turned down their offer I fell off the train. It's sad.

Jo-

must have missed that comment...i do seem to recall him stating he wanted to test the free agent market after the season...i probably was not too clear in what i meant in my previous comment- it seems to me (strictly my opinion) that Teix has always treated baseball like a business; i.e what is best for him regardless of weither he likes playing for a certian team or not; always the best business decision rather then loyalities to a city or team...unlike, say, Chipper or Smoltzie who would rather remain loyal to one team even if it means less money

CA - I totally agree with you. He definitely treats it like a business, which it is, and he's not shy about that. I give him credit for it. I think this whole rejection of Atlanta's offer is more about his agent than himself.

Jo- you hit it dead on. I'm far from silent about my intense dislike of Teix's scummy agent, Scott Boras. I think he has secret affiliations with the American league or something because this is not the first thing he's done to take a key player away from the Braves.
