I know weight can be a sensitive subject for men, especially for athletes. I don't know why player's weights are listed on the roster, and I really don't see how it's relevant. But here's something I noticed...
Look at the guys who supposedly weigh 200lbs. Are you telling me that Yunel Escobar and Jordan Schafer weigh the same thing? Yunie has huge shoulders and he's *solid*. And Pete Moylan weighs the same as Schafer? I don't believe that...not for a second. :D

You'll notice I laid off commenting on Bennett. He's clearly off the rabbit-food-and-stadium-stairs diet he was on a couple of off-seasons ago, but I think he looks fine either way. (Fiiiiine. :D ) All that's important is that he's happy and healthy, and that his wife still finds him delicious.
Hee. Reminds me of a story I heard about Boston - apparently Dustin Pedroia's bio lists him at 5'9", which seems more like wishful thinking than actual fact.
But Jordan Schafer? Maybe 175 soaking wet. :P
Yeah I don't care how big anyone is, I'm not saying he looks bad, just thought it was funny. We talked on the ajc blog one day about how on baseballamerica or one of those stat sites it has Bobby's weight as 185. LOL.
I think just about every player somehow looks slimmer in uniform (and on tv) than in street clothes. Funny how that works. Chipper has a noticeable gut in street clothes but you don't see it in the uniform. Weird.
I'm going to move right past the "hidden" weight on Gonzo. :) Although I do remember an AJC article at the beginning of spring training saying he had lost 15 lbs. and was at 200.
I think height/weight is sometimes stretched to make the athletes seem more "imposing", even though it's an obvious fabrication. But for other guys, the people posting the vitals feel bad for them and "slim" them down. :)
Chipper totally has a gut! I remember seeing it in his All-Star getup from last summer -- I need to find that picture...
I think those player's weights are not really updated yearly because I don't think MattE weighs 215 lbs. anymore and weighs more than KJ now, according to the two and MattE said he lost 30 lbs. (I think that's right). KJ doesn't weight 205 lbs. anymore either. He's got some muscle, but he's also a litter more meatier. I think the only one that's really accurate is Mac's, but maybe a few others. Others lost weight, too, such as Gonzo (15 lbs), and Jo-Jo did, too, I think, and I want to say Chipper said he lost a few lbs. as well.
And I could believe Jordan Schafer weighing 200 lbs. One word: Ripped. Jordan might be a small-looking guy, but he's got muscles more than anything else. I think I read somewhere that he works out for like ten hours a day (might be in the off season). I doubt he does that during the season, but he still works out.

I looked away quickly, but for the record, I never want to see Chipper's -- or any Brave's -- man-boobs or NIPPLES again. Ever. I love the Braves, but I love them in the hug-your-teddy-bear kind of way, and nipples... Ew. I... EW. I need brain bleach.

Sorry, Kowakami and Bennett do NOT weigh the same! KK may weigh the same as Jeff's lower half, as someone pointed out, but that's about it.
Does anyone else find it disturbing that shows like THE BIGGEST LOSER (which I do not watch on an even part time basis) make the large men weigh in shirtless and expose us all to their man-boobs? As a general rule, if it should be wearing a bra, it should NOT be exposed on television. I like my vision and would prefer to not be scarred for life, or be forced to remove my eyes with my fingernails. That being said, there are exceptions to every rule and, although you all know I have a soft spot for the belly, that pic of Jordan is really, really nice to look at! :)
Oh good Lord, PLEASE pass the bleach and the eye wash!! I am never going to blame my eyesight degeneration on age; I swear it's all due to seeing Larry's man-boobs and Chino in a towel.

I would just like to take a moment to thank you, amanda (no capital for you!), for making me paste that url into the address line on my computer. I now have the link to Chipper and his man-boobs (sadly, not the creepiest part of that photo) stuck in my list of addresses with little hope of it disappearing any time soon.
Lauren - Ha ha, that's not the best picture of Schafer. I mean it's not what you see on a regular basis and it makes him look like Eminem's better-looking twin.
I could have gone without seeing that picture of Chipper. Bleh. But that is a lot better than seeing Chino a drop of a towel away from wearing nothing. Gag me.
But I agree with CA, there are exceptions to every rule. KJ is a very good example. ;D He looks extremely nice shirtless. And, not to pick on Mac for his former "fluffiness" cause I love him either way, he looked good shirtless before he lost the weight (no man boobs, that' for sure..just somewhat albino ;)). Imagine what he looks like now. ;D Ok, I'll end this on that thought.
I have been known to make crazy/weird/funny decisions, but luckily, I didn't record Chino con la toalla. I did talk about it here, briefly. :)
LOL! Sorry y'all. The funny part is, that picture ran in the newspaper in full color. That guy caught his 400th homer last year and in exchange for the ball he got to meet Chipper and get a signed bat and all that. I can't believe Chipper came out to meet them like that. I'm sure he never thought that pic would come out in the newspaper. Heh.
And cabravesfan - I stare in amazement trying to figure out where and what everything goes/is on those biggest loser weigh ins. I mean, this last season? That dad with the beard? Talk about scarred for life!

I think the guys look WAY skinner in street clothes than unis. I almost didn't recognize Peter Moylan in street clothes, he looked skiiiiinnyy.
Maybe Moylan looks thinner in street clothes but Chipper does not. I've seen him in street clothes several times.
However, since I don't want to forever be regarded as "the one who showed the blog Chipper's moobs" .... and since I like this blog a lot, I won't post any more photographic evidence. :D

It's funny, some guys look really fit & athletic in street clothes & some look like any ol' normal guy. The one time I saw Chipper in street clothes in person he looked good but that was several years ago. (This was also the time I found out that Marcus Giles was the size of a muscular garden gnome.)

Yeah, I'm with Leah on the weight not being updated yearly; I think Yunel's been listed at 200 since he came up in '07, and I know between '07 and '08 DOB said he put on another 12-15 pounds of muscle.
