I think I'm gonna be sick...

Your Atlanta Braves just traded Jeff Locke (LHP), Gorkys Hernandez (OF, super-fast), and quite possibly my #1 favorite Brave Charlie Morton for Pirates' All-Star Nate McLouth.

I'm not kidding; my stomach actually hurts. I can't believe we had to give up Charlie. :( Between Charlie and Matt Capps, I suppose I'm going to have to be a part-time Pirates fan now.

I'm glad you're all happy over this. I am being an emotional girl right now and I'm actually close to tears. Charlie Morton was probably my favorite Brave overall, and even though I know this move will get us closer to winning, I'm really, really, really upset about losing Charlie.

To put it into perspective, I've not been this upset since Tom Glavine went to the Mets.

Lauren, how much of a chance do you think Charlie had getting back up to "the show?" I'm not being a smart behind, I am asking your opinion. I don't think that he had a great chance.

You know after reading your blog for a year plus, I think you probably would be an awesome friend. You're very loyal.

I'm sorry, Lauren. This has been one of the most disparaging days in Braves history. I think the way you feel about Charlie is the way I feel about Tommy. It will just never, ever sit right with me. Seeing him in yet another non-Braves uniform will absolutely make me cry. And I was totally starting to fall in love with Charlie. Only to have him ripped away. McLouth had better walk on water...

I'm sad about losing Charlie and I don't care for the way the Glavine thing was handled but...Hanson was always going to be up here before Charlie and it was apparent that we would be giving up pitching in a trade for outfielders because we are so rich in pitching and so poor in the outfield.

In other words, good move for the team, sad move for Glavine and Charlie fans.

slappywhite, I knew Charlie didn't have much of a chance when Hanson started kicking tail in Spring Training. Before that, I honestly thought he'd be our #5 this year.

He'll have much more success in Pittsburgh, and that's closer to his family. I'll be watching their games more often now. :) And I wasn't planning to go to next week's Pirates games, but maybe I'm going to all of them now! We'll see where he gets assigned.

Holy Crap! I'm offline for 2 hours and THIS happens??? I have to say- i am sorry to see Charlie go (LOVE HIM!) but he should get a better chance to start for the Pirates then for the Braves and we really got McLouth? that's a good trade

As I stated, I don't think he had much of a shot either but hopefully he can shine over there.

Hopefully all will work out for the best, we'll win the division and all the stupid Phillies fan will shut up.

I shocked the front office made so much noise in one day. I guess not only are we getting players, we are showing the Mets and Phillies, we came to play this year.

I'm sorry to see Charlie go. I wonder if Jo Jo hadn't been placed on the DL if he'd have been the one traded.

I'm interested to see McLouth play for us, but right now I'm not all that happy with what we gave up.
