There is no shortage of articles or pictures of Francoeur's return to Turner Field -- you can read all the ones in the usual spots. :) However, there was an article from The Star-Ledger in New Jersey that I especially enjoyed, and this quote from SI.com caught my attention:
Despite growing up near Atlanta (Catie and Francoeur met in third grade) and attending the University of Georgia, Catie had no problems switching allegiances to the Mets. Jeff said his wife bought about $1,000 worth of Mets merchandise during Francoeur's first two games in New York and distributed it to family and friends at the beach.I have a lot of Braves-related crap, but I'm certain I've not spent $1000 on it in my lifetime, much less in just a few days. It must be nice to have access to that kind of money, Catie. ;) Enjoy it while it lasts!

Jeff and David Overrated are perfect new BFF's. I hope Jeff is very successful in NYC. In NY it's easy to be a fan favorite when you're cute and have a little success. Who knows, he may be an all star next year.
As far as all that Mets gear...I read that in Bowman's article last night. No surprise there, its what any good stepford wannabe would do. Ooops. I think I'll stop typing now. :D
And another thing, I'm annoyed by all the Frenchy coverage in the AJC. Good lord. We got ONE pic of Mac during the all star festivities and that was a getty images/AP press photo. Never saw him in any pics from the parade or anything else and the ajc and braves.com both had people there. But god forbid a day goes by that there isn't a Frenchy story/photos on there.
OK I'm done. :D
I'm just waiting for the "Christmas with the Francoeurs" story and photo gallery this Christmas. ;)
I have to admit I was totally loving Francoeur's fluffy hair :) Really a lot
(love him or hate him, he's still cute...even as a met)
Amen, Amanda. I couldn't agree with you more.
The pic is cute & sad at the same time.
And yes, the coverage was a bit excessive. AJC's going through Frenchy-withdrawal.
Is it just me or did anyone else read and find it strange the comment about how he found his car was still there (in the Braves parking lot).....?? It seems like he could have had someone, like his wife, go and pick it up....just wondering!
L84sky, I wondered the same. I've heard before that the wives usually stay behind and pack everything up and get the family moved. :/
I thought that was odd too. His family is all there in Atlanta.
I wonder if Catie is a little bitter? She does that and then makes sure the press hears about it. It's not personal Catie...it is just business.
I'm sure it's a big letdown for her too. He won't have hometown hero status in NY. I imagine she was recognized a lot in Atlanta. And not to be rude but she strikes me as being a bit high-maintenance.
Just to throw one more thing about the All-Star coverage in here... I had been keeping an eye out for Mac in the back of shots, etc., in any of the coverage, and finally saw him in the Obama footage they showed on TWIB. They said it was the government footage but it actually was Mac meeting Obama in the locker room instead of just the coverage of the starters that had been aired earlier. That's 2 presidents in two years that he's been able to meet (Bush at opening day in Washington last year)... not too bad!
Yeah, I've got video of that and haven't had time to put it on my computer. Watch for it soon!
