2008 All-Star Roundup

Yeah, that's how we all feel. I was a little upset at Clint Hurdle for not putting Mac in earlier in the game -- his bat would have kept this game from going 15 innings, and he calls a great game -- but apparently Baby knew the whole time that he may not get to play...

"Before we went out I was talking to Russell and he said he was going in after [starting catcher Geovany] Soto."

That left the Braves' McCann as the third catcher, and he realized he might not get into the game.

"It was one of those things where you can't burn all your catchers," McCann said. "I knew I was going to sit there until Russell couldn't go anymore or we needed a pinch-hitter."

Chipper was also excited to be there, according to all the media. There are tons of articles out there about his dad, how special this particular all-star game was, etc. I'll just leave you with this picture:

He did get the first hit of the game, a solid single. Way to go, Chipper! Hope you and Larry Sr. had a nice time in NY. (Also, I don't remember ever seeing his wife Sharon before, but she was in the parade truck -- she reminds me a tiny bit of Lucy Davis, aka Dawn on the UK version of "The Office", only super-thin, as most MLB wives are wont to be. She's cuter than I expected.) :)

Video: The final play of the game. Baby attempts to tag out Justin Morneau but is a hair too late, and the AL wins (again) and gets home field advantage for the World Series (stupid).

Former Brave JD Drew is the All-Star MVP. Way to go, JD!

That picture of Brian is so sad :(

He looks so dejected. Poor guy has to sit there for 14 innings and then gets to be the one in the picture who doesn't get the tag (I'm still not convinced he didn't...)

Stupid AL.

Oh how I wish the game had gone another inning- I would have loved to see Mac hit a bomb off JD Drew for the win...

Oh, that picture of Mac just breaks my heart...so sad.

I'm so mad Mac didn't get at least one AB. He was the only all star, other than that guy who was sick and went to the hospital before the game, who didn't get an at bat. And he's easily the best catcher in the NL! Booooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

It was GOOD to see Chipper get some press at the red carpet parade. I'll be nice and say Mrs. Chipper looks....better with huge sunglasses on. :)

Here is a photo of them from February - http://i26.tinypic.com/14kfmgy.jpg

but you're right, not many photos out there of her.

lo-

thanks for the pic- that is the first one I have seen of Mrs. Chipper...not what I expected:)

I just want to hug him and tell him, it isn't his fault and he did all he could.

I did see a quick shot of him in the parade last night before the game. He didn't wear the same shirt this year.

cabravesfan,

I don't mean to be catty its just that Chipper is so... rockstar with the way he dresses and the way he swaggers everywhere he goes.

I work with a guy like that, obviously not a ballplayer but young, good looking and charasmatic, and every time someone sees his wife it is the same reaction...people have even said it out loud in the office.

You just expect guys like that to have supermodel wives, I guess, and when they look like women you see any day at Wal-Mart, well, it's a little surprising. lol

Well, Chipper looks like a guy you'd find at Wal-Mart, so I guess they're MFEO. ;)

(I really don't have anything against Sharon. She's cute, compared to the majority of Real Life women I see every day, and in my mind...the woman's a saint. I can't imagine having to live with Larry.)

I totally agree about Sharon-I would have expected Chipper to have the supermodel...it is actually kinda nice to see he has a normal looking (and naturally pretty-as opposed to "worked on" pretty) wife

To Sharon's defense, that's not a good picture of her. I've seen a couple of others and she's prettier than she appears in that one.

I love me some chipper. I will fight his wife for his affection if he ever gave me the option too. but since he yet hasnt, i shall just stand aside and try not to drool too much on his baseball card.

*le sigh.

I think Chipper would be hard to be married to. I wonder which would be the easiest Brave to be married to. Hmmm...

ooooh, slappy, that would be a great blog post for someone (lauren???).

who would have the piece-o-cake braves-wife job?.....excellent topic! :-)

Where do I apply to be the next Mrs. Heap?

I can't imagine anyone easier to live with...if you can stand the mess:)

slappywhite said...

Yeah Mac seems easy to live with, he might be messy but I would bet he comes home at night. I would take the mess.

Frenchy seems like he would come home at night as well, but he seems a little whinny lately.

Let's be respectful of the real wives, y'all. ;)

CABravesFan said...

No disrespect meant...its just nice to dream:)

Sorry. But I don't think we were being disrepectful. We were only talking about the good ones and not airing dirt.

Anyway, your blog, your rules. No more talk about it.
