Mercy Rule

Baby knocked in Team USA's only run in yesterday's embarrassing loss. (video) Apparently Jake Peavy got routed, but New Javy got the win for the Puerto Rican team.

Is it possible for me to feel neutral about this? I mean, it's an exhibition! I love my country, and I'm glad New Javy pitched well; this is another instance of cheering for one team vs. cheering for a player on the opposite team. (Well, not just one -- I still love Pudge, too.)

I wish I had MLB Network. I'm a little sad I didn't get to see the game yesterday.

Believe me you are not sad you missed this game- apart from Mac it was as ugly as it sounds...New Javy did look great however

And as "whoo hoo USA" as I am (I watch curling during the Olympics if hte US is playing...and I have no idea what curling is) I really would rather have the boys back in camp (although I have a feeling if they lose to the Netherlands Mac and Chipper will never hear the end of it from JJ)

Heh, curling is awesome but only after 11pm or so. If you're fully awake (or sober, for those of you who imbibe), it's not as fun.

JJ's so much fun. He really would give them a hard time!

Peavy has not impressed me at all during the WBC. I am so glad that deal fell thru. Nice to see new Javy can pitch. Brian is so cute in the video. I wonder what he is saying? Maybe it was, "I'm so awesome"

slappywhite, I tried to read his lips, but I am really bad at that. I like the idea of making up something fun instead.

I'm watching the USA/Netherlands WBC game right now, and they just showed our favorite blonde fuzzy head in the dugout, chowing on some sunflower seeds. He was sitting between Chipper (in a hoodie) and Youk. He really seems to get along with everyone on the team -- this is the first time I remember seeing him sit with Chipper.

Aren't those Dutch boys cute? The white ones, with their rosy cheeks, and there's a really cute boy batting from Curacao. Oh! His name is Schoop! What a fun name!! Dear Braves, please sign Schoop. Love, Lauren

don't think that was Chipper that Mac was siting with...went back and looked- at first glance it did look like him, but it was not (not sure who it was)- sounds like he has already left for Orlando

That was J.J. Putz sitting with Mac, but it did look like Chipper, though. I thought it was him, too, but they had already said Chipper had left.

Maybe Mac will stop with his Chipper obsession since he's made new friends, but probably not.

Dude- I'd rather have him hanging with Chipper then a Met...

CA - This is true.

Thanks, girls. I saw squinty eyes and chin hair in passing while packing for my trip tomorrow and just assumed it was Chipper. :) My attention isn't 100% on the game -- it's about 90% on the beach. :D

This Roberts guy is way cute! What team does he belong to?

CABravesFan said...

I believe Brian Roberts belongs to Baltimore for the moment- I have heard they may be trying to trade him...

Leah said...

I believe Roberts signed a four-year extension with Baltimore recently.

CABravesFan said...

Thanks Leah- hadn't heard that...last i remember is that they were "putting feelers out" so to speak to see what the market was like...

I have a hard time mustering any sympathy for Peavy.

So where are you headed, Lauren?

CABravesFan said...

Anyone catch Mac in left field in the 9th tonight?

flbravesgirl said...

Huh?! Playing left field?

CABravesFan said...

Yup- put him out there after he pinch hit...actually looked kinda cute- all serious and everything...I just wonder who's glove he was using (I can just picture him muttering to himself "please don't hit it out here, please don't hit it out here")

flbravesgirl said...

Oh, I wish I had seen that!

CABravesFan said...

I'm sure Frank and Bobby were thrilled...

I wish someone had gotten at least a picture, but of course, I can't find anything on it, except that he played LF in news articles. I believe SI.com said that he was using Mark Derosa's glove.

CABravesFan said...

I thought about that after the fact...I had already changed the channel and couldn't go back to take the pic...my bad

Gotta love this quote from Mac:

"Greatest half inning of my life," gushed McCann, who borrowed Mark DeRosa's outfielders' glove to play there.

Leah said...

Ha ha, yes, I love that quote. Once he got out there, I figured they would show him more in the field, but they really didn't but maybe once after announcing the switch. Maybe someone somewhere at least has a cap of it.

CABravesFan said...

He followed it up with this gem:

“I’m horrible in the outfield,” he said. “When I shag [batting practice] in the outfield before the game, it’s not a pretty sight. I’d have rather played infield.”

God bless that boy- he knows his own limitations:)

Leah said...

I missed that one! That's funny. At least he's honest about his limitations, though. My mom said earlier he probably said the previous quote because he was glad he didn't have to go after anything when out in the field and didn't embarrass himself. He he. I love him. ♥

Awww! Is he not the most adorable sweet little baby-duck-fuzz-haired guy ever? I can just see the sheepish little smile as he says that.

I heard about Mac playing left field earlier today and wasn't sure if it was just a rumor or not. I wish I hadn't fallen asleep in the middle of the game now! :P
