Tommy John for Kris Medlen

Tiny Dancer's gonna be out for a year, gang. No me gusta. :(

Braves.com:

ATLANTA -- After running Kris Medlen through one more set of tests Sunday morning, the Braves' medical staff confirmed that he will need to undergo Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery.

Medlen will meet with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday and then undergo the ligament transplant procedure Wednesday. The 24-year-old right-hander will be sidelined for about a year.

Medlen partially tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow during his Aug. 4 start against the Mets. The Braves won 13 of the 14 games that he started this season.
AJC.com:

Medlen said he had anticipated that outcome.

“At first I was trying to avoid it, but I think it’s going to be for the best,” said the 24-year-old California native. “I’m excited just to get it over with. But I’m starting to get a little nervous.”
Poor kid. Hope all goes well. These are almost always successful these days -- look how well Huddy and Venters are doing this year, and they're post-TJ surgery! We sure will miss him till next season, though.

What bad timing for his recent breakup, eh? of course, we never really know what's going on behind the scenes. He might be dating someone else now, or they might be back together with this bad news. ...Or, he might be available for cookies and hugs. :D We don't know!

Cookies and hugs! I vote for cookies and hugs! (And rehab at home in California! :D )

Oooh, I didn't think about where he'd rehab... I wonder who officially owns the condo he shares with Tommy Wahlberg and Reynoso? Either way, he'll need to be near his doctors. Moylan stayed here, not in Australia. ;)

We've got good docs out here! Including the one that first performed Tommy John! He couldn't be in better hands...plus I could bring him COOKIES :D

Let me figure out which cookies would ship best & I'll get right on it, CA. ;-)

Just for the record, I'd like to adopt Medi as a super fun little brother. The hugs would be platonic.
