BASEBALL’S GREATEST GAMES 1992 NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 7 DVD
THE ATLANTA BRAVES WIN THIS ALL-TIME NLCS MATCHUP FEATURING SID BREAM’S HISTORIC SLIDE HOME

http://shop.history.com/baseballs-greatest-games-1992-nlcs-game-7-dvd/detail.php?p=300741&v=aetv_subject_sports

The Pittsburgh Pirates were riding a three-year streak of 95+ wins and three consecutive NLCS appearances. The year prior Atlanta had eliminated the Pirates and advanced to the World Series. This year, in this Game 7 the momentum appeared to sit with the Pirates club who carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning. But, as with many of baseball’s Greatest Games, the script for this unfolding drama took unanticipated, heart-stopping, wonderful twists, which ended in a euphoric celebration for the home team. Down to their last out and with the bases loaded Bobby Cox summoned rarely used pinch hitter Francisco Cabrera from the Atlanta bench. With one single to left the game and the series turned, punctuated by a dramatic, series-ending play at home plate and Sid Bream’s immortalized slide. Direct from the Major League Baseball archives, this extraordinary television broadcast includes the quintessential making of a Fall Classic hero, an iconic moment, and one unforgettable baseball game. A special DVD audio feature allows fans to watch the television broadcast and listen to the radio play-by-play!

This game is a must have for Braves fans of all ages!

My brother Kevin and cousinroomie Andy watched the screener copy with me tonight - here are a few comments, in typical Braves Love fashion...

Kevin, on starter Smoltz: Look at his socks!

Kevin: Let's see how non-steroid-y Barry Bonds looked in 1992.

Defensive lineup shows on screen.
Lauren: How much of that do you remember?
Kevin: All of it!

McCarver on Smoltz: He's throwing hard, but he's been wild.

Andy on Damon Berryhill: I don't remember him at all.
Lauren: I had the biggest crush on him! I wore #11 in softball that year because of him. :)

Andy on Otis Nixon: That's what I remember most about him - that he's fast as crap.

Lauren: That guy is SO FAT! I LOVE IT! HAHAHA
[after his at-bat]
Kevin: Fatty struck out.

Lauren: The mustaches in this game are epic.

Announcer: But Berryhill is slow and he stops at second!
[room erupts in laughter]
Lauren: He's a catcher! Of course he's slow!

Fun fact: Our highest paid player in 1992 was Charlie Liebrandt ($3,182,333.00). In 2010 money, that's equivalent to $4,884,155.46. (Our highest paid player in 2010/2011 is also a pitcher, Derek Lowe, at $15,000,000.00.)

Kevin: That was classic David Justice; you don't have to slide but you slide anyway.

Kevin: Who's that?
Lauren: That's Deion!
Kevin: He played for the Braves?!
Lauren: How do you not remember that?! He played for the Braves and the Falcons...at the same time! So did Brian Jordan, remember?
Kevin: THAT'S RIGHT!!
[two minutes of convo about Deion later, Kevin's football-high-stepping across the living room, everyone's cracking up]

Lauren: Avery is wearing the gold version of Kimmie's necklace. It's exactly the same.

Kevin: THIS IS IT! MY HEART IS BEATING SO HARD AND THIS GAME IS IN THE PAST!

Hope you win, or at least buy a copy for yourself! I'm so happy I got to see this game again. :)

First of all, I love that Max is presenting the DVD for us.

I may have to buy this for my dad for Christmas. Still one of my all-time best Braves memories. I remember sitting on the couch all sad, Mom had gone on to bed & Dad checking the door lock & standing by me saying what a great year they had & that we should be proud of them. Then a glimmer of hope. I don't remember jumping off the couch but I must have because Dad & I were jumping up & down in the living room. Mom had to come running to see what the screaming was about. I think that was the most exciting game I've ever watched on TV, even over the WS win, because it was so unexpected.

Max's owner was quite amused that I got him to pose for the picture. What? I crinkled the wrapper like a treat and he sat and smiled! :D

(He did get a real treat later.) :)
